This post will be featured in Not So Secret Society's Best of the Month Blogging Carnaval.
In this article I will be covering the entire process of going from getting your addons set up to obtaining and posting the final product, glyphs. This article can also be used for other professions because it will cover all the basic steps only this time it’s for Inscription. I will be using a shorthand for TradeSkillMaster(TSM). While I was writing this I felt that the article was getting way too long for a single post so I've split it into 2 parts. One for today and one for tomorrow. Today's article is going to cover the installation, scanning and a part of the configuration. The second part can be found
here.
What is TradeSkillMaster?
TradeSkillMaster is a module based system to help both new Auctioneers and the most elite auction goblins manage everything related to the Auction House! Their goal is to work hand-in-hand with the community to develop an all-inclusive suite of modules that, when used together, follows the users through every single auction and crafting related function, making them as much gold in as automated of an environment as possible while still following blizzard Terms of Service very closely.
Installation
First thing you want to is download the addon ofcourse. Now there are a lot of single modules so I recommend using the Curse Client for easy installation. If you want to manually install the addon visit the links below to download a package containing the addon and all of it's modules.
Scanning
Okey once you’ve installed the TSM and all of it’s components it’s time for your first auction house scan.(I will cover TSM configuration when you will need it) This scan is different from the scan you would do with auctioneer because it’s optimized for auctioneering and you can tick the things you want to scan for to save you some time. Neat huh? Head over to the auction house and click the <<TSM(1) button on the top right of your auction house frame. If you want to use auctioneer scans with TSM head over to the configuration part.

Now click the Scan(2) button and a window will pop up where you can select(3) your options. If you haven’t scanned a lot I would recommend you tick the getall scan as well since you will need some data in your auction database. As always scanning for a couple of days to get a good average is the way to go. This way you are avoiding making items that maybe won’t make you a profit at all but are just high priced on the auction house at the moment because somebody bought everything out. Okey now click the Run Scan(4) button and let the current scan finish. In the meanwhile we can configure some options in TSM we will be using later.
Configuration Part 1
First thing we’re going to do now is configure our minimum amount of profit. Click the TSM minimap button and head over to Crafting Options(1). This is where we will be setting our prices, configuring the data sources and setting the restocking options. Head over to the data tab and look at the Price Settings(2).
There are 2 database options you can select where TSM will get its prices from, Auctioneer or AuctionDB. I prefer the AuctionDB for now because the prices are a lot more recent then the average prices over a large period of time Auctioneer is using. You might disagree with me on this and that is fine. That’s why I recommend that you scan for a few days to get a more recent average price then Auctioneer has. You can also choose to add a profit deduction for your crafts if you want to. The 5% i'm using above will cover the amount the auction house cuts off from the your final profit.
At Inventory Settings(3) you can configure the source(s) which TSM will get your current stock from. Since most of you probably only have DataStore just check all your characters from the first dropdown and your personal guild banks in the second drop down. Now it's time to head over to the Craft Management Window Tab.

At the Restock Queue Settings(4) you can configure how many items of each you will be crafting, what you want your minimum amount of profit to be and how TSM has to determine this for you. Now you will probably have different settings for each profession for example I craft 2 of every glyph on restock and 3 of every enchanting scroll on restock and the minimum amount of profit is very different from each other. This is where the profiles tab comes in. You can create profiles per character or even if you want to per profession. Now I don't know if you can switch profiles with a macro but if you could that would be a lot quicker then reconfiguring(If it's not possible i'll try to contact the development team).
That's all for today. Come back tomorrow to check the second part where I will be covering crafting, shopping and posting. If there are any questions leave a comment I’ll take my time to see if I can find the right answer for you.
Great post mate excellent looking forward for the second part.
